Author Bring on 70-300....

Well now that the results are in for the other betas, it is time to start
thinking about the 300 exam. The training and cert site shows that the exam
is scheduled for February 2003. However, a study guide has not been
provided. I expect this exam to be quite different from 70-100 and focus
more on UML, MSF and other architecture ideas then we have seen in the past.

What are your thoughts?

Peace,
Keith

Hi Keith

I talked with a guy from MS a ".NET evangelist" I don't remember his name,
but he said that the exam will be similar to the 70-100 at least in
structure, with case studies and drag & drop, etc.

Let's hope they set a study guide ASAP cause this exam can be a hard one.

I hope it doesn't have anything specific to those tools. I thought one of
the best aspects of 70-100 was that it was relatively neutral on tools &
technologies. I had great dread that the 70-100 beta was going to be loaded
with MSF trivia. Some great ideas in there, but nothing worth blindly
memorizing & adhering to in all circumstances IMO. I think of UML
similarly - a great practice to make some use of in most cases, but I sure
don't want exam questions about whether my rectangles should have rounded or
square corners.

I hope it'll be similar to 70-100 (which really isn't so outdated IMO).
That'll probably make it pretty difficult to prepare for, outside of
actually doing the work it'll probably list as a suggested prerequisite.
Imagine that!

I'm also hoping they'll offer a Managed C++ exam before that. But it seems
to be even less defined than 70-300, so I wonder if they're going to
actually deliver it. It would be interesting to know the numbers for VB.Net
vs C# exam takers and results, but I don't expect MS will tell anyone that.

I expect 70-300 to test the candidate skills in Design
using UML, Design Patterns & Database Design (as in 70-
100).
