I just took a brainbench tech exam in ASP.Net, C# and DHTML for a potential
position. Throughout all my interviewing I have been trying to keep up with
reading and studying the concepts in the .Net Framework. Although I believe
I have a fairly strong understanding of the concepts, I have not had the
opportunity to work in a professional capacity since my position was
eliminated in mid-February. Many of these questions were low level syntax
questions that in a real working environment I could have easily debugged or
found the answer but I was supposed to come up with the answer in 180
seconds. I did my best and feel that for the majority of the questions I
was able to narrow it down to the most likely two. I only hope that I
picked the correct answer. I hate knowing the concepts and then having
similar but not correct answers as a choice. This is not real life but I
guess I understand what employers are trying to determine. All in all,
unemployment has strengthened my complete understanding of the framework.
Now all I need is the opportunity to release it in a professional capacity
and tone some of those not so frequently used syntaxed skills. Time will
tell...
