MSN toolbar cannot load its config file

| I installed the latest beta toolbar. Whenever I start IE, the message "MSN
Toolbar unable to load its config file." It instructs me to restart my system
and, if the problem remains to re reinstall the toolbar. I cannot reinstall
because MSN detects the toolbar installation. Nor can I UNinstall the
toolbar. A reboot does not help either.
When I tried to revert to the reliable toolbar, MSN again detects the later
program and will not let me install the one that works!
Ideas anyone?

| Try HijackThis & remove all entries related to the toolbar from the registry
& BHO listings for it. Otherwise think system restore to right before the
install. Hope you made one

| Not familiar with that HJ program -- yet. Finally got the scattered hidden
files removed (regedit) too late last night. Reloaded the basic toolbar, not
new beta. Weird thing is, the beta program worked until last night when the
temp files cleared. Since it was working, the last two restore points had the
beta as installed. It's working fine on my laptop but I hesitat to put it
back on the desktop.
How do I get the HijackThis program?

I emplore you to use www.hijackthis.de paste the scan log there & click
analyze. It will show you what is good/bad/ugly without the worry of
deleting something important. Don't guess at what you should toss.
