| I have installed a Creative Labs Extigy Sound Blaster card and since then Windows XP makes not sound when starting up. How can I rectify this?

| Uninstall it from the Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager.
Also make sure that your old sound card is not showing there. Next,
physically remove the new card and re-install it (reseat it in the slot).
Then reinstall the drivers and software.
I haven't looked, but I would guess there's a newsgroup out there more
appropriate for hardware-related questions such as this.
