Hi.
First, remove the BHOs (Browser Helper Objects). These are DLLs (Dynamic
Link Libraries) that are loaded into every instance of Internet Explorer.
They are also loaded into your desktop if you have enabled "Active Desktop".
Combined, these little programs can get to be a memory hog.

In IE, click the dropdown menu, Tools and choose "Internet Options". In the
middle of the dialog is a button that reads, "Settings..." Click it.

Click the button the reads, "View Objects..."

Here are the BHOs. Most are probably legitimate. Delete the ones that do not
have names that are human readable. They probably have a GUID (Globally
Unique User ID) assigned to them. You can see where you downloaded each of
these objects by right-clicking them and choosing "Properties...". To delete
them, right-click them and choose "Remove..."

Registry:
The registry is the brains of Windows. If you are not sure of your Windows
skills, you can easily give Windows an unrecoverable lobotomy and you'll
lose everything. I don't know your skill set.

Click Start - Run and type in "Regedit".
In the registry, go to these two locations:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mic
rosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mi
crosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\Run

....and delete the string values in the right pane for applications you don't
want to automatically start up when you turn your machine on. Remember -
this kind of work is for experts.

Finally, check out a freeware program called Ad-Aware from the Internet that
automatically deletes software that does what you are experiencing.

Another good hiding place is the classic INI files in the SYSTEM32 folder.
If you can't delete something because it's loaded in memory, reboot to "Safe
Mode" by clicking/holding F8 when Windows first boots up. This prevents
Windows from loading additional programs during start up.

Good luck to you.
