| I am so disappointed with Microsoft! I spent all of my
time the last 2 months studying for the 2k pro test,
passed it, only to find out that they don't recognize you
as a NT/2k/XP MCP. An MCP is an MCP, but MCSE's have
versions. That is a stab in the back for anyone who has an
MCP, that is Microsoft's way of saying, you haven't gained
any furhter knowledge. Something needs to be done......
| |
| Daniel Lawrence 2003-04-22, 2:23 pm |
| Why? In the case of a MCSA, or MCSE you did 4 or 7 courses to qualify on a
particular platform so they recognize it. You wrote one lousy exam or
combination of exams and expect special recognition, you got it Microsoft
Certified Professional.

| Sorry to disappoint you on your jab at me expirence but I
took 5 exams for NT but they retired the last test I
needed for my MCSE, but my point is even though didn't
pass "all" of those tests for the MCSE, I was still an
MCP. But now I have passed the 2k test I am not recognized
with furthering my Microsoft education, and some one who
only passed the Windows NT Workstation exam is considered
of having an equal Microsoft education as me.

| I was not taking a Jab at you just stating facts, passing one test makes you
nothing more than a MCP regardless of the platform, on a resume is where you
can state that you are a MCP on a particular platform but until you reach a
higher certification (MCSA/MCSE) there is no distinction made on platform.
You wrote "I have passed the 2k test I am not recognized with furthering my
Microsoft education, and some one who only passed the Windows NT Workstation
exam is considered of having an equal Microsoft education as me.", but I
have to ask by who is this thought to be correct? If you use my example of
applying for a job, then your resume and cover letter will state your
credentials and will differentiate you from a MCP on Windows NT 4 or even on
Windows XP.

| tommy,
I don't understand why you are so bent out of shape over this issue, its not
like anyone was flaming you I just made the mistake of posting an opposing
view.
If you look over your other certifications do they identify the various
versions or levels, for example your CNA which version of Novell is it on?
or your CCNA, or worse yet your A+ which objectives did you pass? You are
taking a very one sided view of the MS certifications you have passed that
is not backed up by the way the industry looks at those same certifications.
