At this Microsoft site is a description of the
certification requirements for MCDBA. It reads about the
NT5 (Windows 2000 server etc) exams and makes no mention
of NT4.

I have my MCSE in the NT4 track and if should I write the
SQL7 exams (admin and implementation) would I still aquire
my MCDBA? These exams are not yet retired so I am hopeful.

Looking forward to your reply.

Andrea,
Look at the page again. You need the following:

1. 70-028 or 70-228
2. 70-029 or 70-229
3. an elective from the list
4. A networking system exam--your 70-067 and 70-068 should meet this
requirement--as stated on that page.

Thank you Tom,

I hope you do not feel like you had to do MY homework. My
confusion begins with the certification name "MCDBA on
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Certification Requirements" at
http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/...dba/default.asp
The FAQs there contain this question:

Q. Why isn’t there a separate MCDBA version on Windows NT
4.0?
A. Microsoft SQL Server 2000 runs on Windows NT 4.0 as
well as on Windows 2000. The MCDBA certification version
is based on the database server, not on the operating
system on which it runs.

End Quote

So I was second guessing if there is a MCDBA version 7x
and I now conclude that no there is not(well unless you
suggest there is). The good news is that the choice of
core and elective exams I choose during NT4 (well, the
school gave our class of 12 choices) are all still
recognized, towards future certifications including MCDBA -
two sql exams to go!

Just a note about certifications:

I was pricing out the cost of aquiring my MCSE in NT5 and
it works out to four more exams (after the two sqls) at
about $150 each, plus three texts at minumum (who can
learn from one book ?) at apx $80 each, with a grand total
of TOO MUCH for a double certification.

I am looking at the .NET requirements next. Thanks again.
Andrea
