i got a mail from ntbtcamp@capital.net

Greetings:

Thank you responding to our job posting on
ComputerJobs.Com! Please read the following information
and attachments very carefully.

This is 100% for real and there is a paradigm shift coming
in the Training and Certification marketplace.
Performance based training and examinations will be the
new standard. We hope that you can be one of the first to
realize the new trend before others and then be prepared
and in place to take the full advantage of it. Take a
look at www.fieldcertification.org for more information
and feel free to call the FCPA for confirmation if you
like. While the FCPA is new to many of you, it is well
known by Novell, Cisco, and Red Hat and Microsoft, Oracle,
Sun, and CheckPoint, who are deeply involved. Within the
months ahead, FCPA standards will be the standard. We are
seeking those individuals with foresight and the ability
to see the opportunity that lies ahead.

As an Academic Member of the FCPA, we do not hire, retain,
or contract with any individual who has not passed their
FCPA Field Exam. All of our employees, trainers, techs,
and examiners must meet Field Certification criteria.
Becoming Field Certified is a challenge and a test of a
person’s true skills and field abilities. Since you are
the one seeking employment, it is up to you to prove you
meet our minimum requirements. As stated in our
employment ads we do have opportunities for those who pass
the FCPA Field Exams with us and with our growing list of
Training Partners. We are especially interested in
obtaining more Field Certified Examiners once you pass
your Field Exam.

Why is FCPA Field Certification so important? Listen to
what some people recently wrote to us:

“I agree with a lot of what you stand for. These paper
MCSE guy's are putting a damper on job prospects for me.”

“I'm obviously interested in becoming field certified
because I truly want to have the practical network
experience which IT employers are seeking.”

“I am delighted to hear that NTBootCamp.Com is addressing
the problem of employee placement for vendor specific
certifications. In September of last year I acquired the
CCNA thinking it was going to cure my financial woes. To
my dismay, it was just a useless piece of paper that I had
spent over $1,000 for. It took me five months to acquire a
position in IT. I am now studying organizational
leadership and supervision while working in the [DELETED
TO PROTECT IDENTITY]. Now that I am in a network
environment everyday, I have learned many things about
networks that could not be learned from passing the CCNA
without actual on the job work experience.

I hope that you are successful in finding placement for
mislead recent vendor specific certification holders, and
I hope that this problem is made more evident throughout
the IT community.”

We are seeking Field Certified Network Technicians, Field
Certified Engineers, Field Certified Trainers, and a
special emphasis on Field Certified Examiners or FCE.
There will be over 500 exam centers opening up in the next
several years and each center needs to have a minimum of
two (2) FCE. FCE can earn up to $2,500 a day proctoring
field exams for us! But you must be QUALIFIED! We also
have opportunities for Authorized Training Partners and a
program whereby you can slowly build economic status and
security by aligning yourself with us. Training partners
can easily earn up to $30,000 a month! We’re not joking!

If you wish to proceed further, and you are not currently
FCPA Field Certified, then this is where you must begin.
Sign up for your Field Exam and then we will go from
there. Again, WE DO have work at the current time for
those who pass! What does it take to pass? You must be
fully vendor certified first. If you don’t have this done
then you must complete this first. In other words you
must already possess your Microsoft Windows 2000 MCSA or
MCSE, or Cisco CCNA or CCNP. Then, in theory, you are
ready to take the FCPA Field Exam. However, our
experience has shown that many who have obtained the
vendor certifications have been deeply “under-trained” and
we fear you may not be truly ready. We don’t want anyone
to waste their time or money. So, our suggestion is that
if you do not currently hold your vendor certifications
that you consider completing them with us. We will make
sure you are 100% properly trained and prepared for the
FCPA Field Exams.

If you think that this might be some kind of game we are
playing it is not. You are not required to take any
training at all. All that is required is that you pass
your FCPA Field Exam! However, the FCPA Field Exams are
very similar to the Cisco CCIE Exam in difficulty. It may
behoove you to take some training because otherwise you
might fail. It’s entirely up to you.

The FCPA Exams will be public on July 1st. We are now
taking orders for the exams. Through July 31st the FCPA
has authorized a 20% discount. You must prepay your exam
in full to receive the discount. Please enclose a check
with your application form and send it to us at 36 Long
Alley, Suite 102, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Saratoga Springs, NY July 8-
31 4 openings per day,
18 open days, 72 total seats $800 per exam.

Port Arthur, Texas. August 1-
31 4 openings per day, 22
open days, 88 open seats $1,000 per exam.

Saratoga Springs, NY September 7-
30 8 openings per day, 13 open
days, 104 open seats $1,000 per exam.

Port Arthur, Texas September 7-
30 8 openings per day, 13 open
days, 104 open seats $1,000 per exam.

Carson City,
Nevada September 7-
30 8 openings per day, 13 open
days, 104 open seats $1,000 per exam.

All exam seats are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
You will need to make hotel arrangements locally through
Holiday Inn, Sheraton, or other motel of your choice.
Plan to arrive the night before your exam. Please report
to the exam site (we will give you directions when we
confirm your seat) at 8:45 a.m. Your exams will be
scheduled from 9:30-4:30 p.m.

We have enclosed a ZIP file to more fully explain what you
will be tested on, and please update yourself on the FCPA
web site in the next several days as their web site
changes. If you have questions please call the FCPA at
301-587-7504.

Thanks and hope to hear from you very soon! If you wish
to be dropped from further consideration, then just let us
know and will drop your name. If you would like to talk
to me personally then, or if you have any other questions,
then give me a call and I will answer your questions
accordingly.

Sincerely,

James O. Ellithorpe

PS: Excellent article in Certification Magazine, June
2002, on boot-camps. Good reading!

No certification process will ever take the place of hard-won experience.
The IT certification process isn't the magic pill to a better life, it's a
way to prove that you have the basic knowledge required to perform an entry
level job. It should be viewed as a way to get into the next level of job,
not as a guarantee of wealth, fame, and fortune. If you honestly believe
that any certificate is the end all of job qualifications you've been
reading too many boot camp web pages.

Uhh... Lemme guess. The job is for the company administering the
exams, correct? Until you see any other companies asking for this
certification, I'd give it a wide berth. Unless you're desperate to
work for that company training other fools...
