| But seriously though, what are you considering? Programming, db stuff,
networking, lots out there. I would say to do whichever interests you the
most. No amount of $$$ is worth a job you hate. DBA's are one of the ten
most wanted in the country according to an article I read a while back.

| network security is going to be hot the next decade or two.

| I agree network security will be more important, much more focus than the
last few years...however, I don't see it as being "hot". I think it will be
used more as another criteria for deciding if a person is a serious
candidate for hiring or not.
I see it being "rolled" into the basic requirements for new hires. You can
see the trend already; employers want higher level certifications and
education for lower level jobs. So I don't see it so much as a feature on
your resume, which demands a higher asking salary, but more of whether you
are hired or not.
For right now, it is kind of a optional extra, but in the long run its just
going to be a requirement. MS is rolling greater security into the OS for
..NET, and deploying patches (almost daily) to upgrade security for W2k Pro,
XP-Pro,etc... Just like with Paint, word and other Applettes...once MS
starts giving it away free, the value of a specific expertise is lowered, at
least at the admin and management level.
