MCSE claim verification

| I'm from the UK. I wish to employ someone who claims to be
MCSE certified, is there any way to verify this claim
other than looking at a physical certificate? Does
Microsoft keep a database of all those who have passed? If
yes, how can you access it?

Even better have the candidate, in your presence, log into the Microsoft
site and view or print the transcripts. You'll aso be able to see the
particular exams he used to gain his certification. Don't forget, each exam
confers Microsoft Certified Professional status, so that might make me the
posessor of "numerous" (4) certifications even though I consider myself as
having one certification, MCSD.
