Author Comparison between Java and Microsoft certification tracks

Hello.

I am trying to determine what the gaps between a Microsoft
certification (say MCSD) and a Java certification (say JCert.org) are.
I know that Microsoft covers web, windows, XML, database, and
architecture to various degrees and JCert covers java programming,
UML, J2EE architecture, Web Component Development, EJBs, and
application servers.

Has any research or opinions been published on this that anyone is
aware of?

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks
