shut down ACPI and APM

| Hi,
I have just wiped my 2k pro machine and installed 2k server now it won't
auto shutdown, I find myself having to hold the power switch in to shut down
what I have noticed that there was no APM tab in the power options in
control panel yet this was present under 2k pro I have enabled ACPI and APM
in my Bios.

| To enable acpi on the machine, you need to go to device manager and it will
probably say Standard PC do an update driver and choose Advanced
Configuration Power Interface (ACPI) PC (Uniprocessor Free) and that will
give you ACPI power management. Bear in mind all your device drivers will
be reinstalled.

Will it boot into "safe mode" ( F8 during start up, then select safe mode )
From there you could use device manger to go back to standard PC.

| You could also try an in-place install - if you have installed much SW
Boot from CD
choose install
When existing "damaged" install is found, choose Repair
You'll need to reapply any SPs, IE6, & updates - but SW & program =
registrations will still be there

Why not? He said earlier that he was able to boot in safe mode, LKGC is on
the same F8 menu, so LKGC should be available, right?

| Windows XP PRO will also not shut down my computer.
I no longer get the ACPI or APM Power Management Device when I choose in the device manager to ‘Show Hidden Devices”.
I have tried UPDADE DRIVICE from ‘STANDARD PC” in device manager and no other choices are found, for example there is no “Configuration Power Interface (ACPI) PC (Uniprocessor Free)” as a choice no matter what I do.
I have also done a windows repair choosing “Standar PC” after hitting F5 on Windows XP CD Boot.
I have also Tries SFC /SCANNOW and it didn’t work.
I need to find a way to add the ACPI or APM Power Management Device back to the Device Manager. I want the computer to be able to shut down on it’s own when I choose shut down, instead of a black screen with the hard drive and fans still going.
Anyone know anything else I can do in this circumstance?
