Re: The MCSE Qualification

| How will gaining a MCSE affect my ability to find work in I.T. What avenues
will it allow me to go down?
Thanks in advance.

it will not restrict you from going down any avenues, or streets, or
hiways, or cul-de-sac, circles, ways, cresents...
without experience, its a piece of paper. with experience its a peice of
paper...with experince.
If you where looking for the MCSE to give you a 100k a year job, give
your head a shake...

| what is your experience level? How long have you been in the trade? how
willing are you to work for minimum wage? Do you have marketable skills
from previous employment? Do you have a family member in high places within
an organization? <-- don't laugh at this one... it might be the key

| Twice I had the opportunity to get a job in this manner.
The first time, I was thrown into the deep end by my dear old dad. He told
me he needed a "computer guy" and wanted me to do all the planning,
deployment, setup and maintainance for a company that deployed internet via
satellite direct to home users. I know, it's nothing new these days, but
when I was setting this up, we were the first company in Australia to offer
this service.
I was 16 back then. And at school, I was teaching the teachers how to teach
the class.
Whooped XXX in the final exams, topped the class with no study and got 98%
:P
The second time? Well, my friends, that's a tale for another time.

| It will help you get more interviews when compared to applicants without
MCSE. That's the real value. Then, if you know your stuff, or are willing
to work for nothing, you might turn the interview into a job.

| Don't look at the MCSE as a ticket. It's just a string for your violin.
If you can't play the violin, however, it's useless to you.
