One more reason to throw the right wing junta out of the White House, and
all of their operatives in government, so we don't become the Cuba of the
civilized world.

Evolution is pointless to teach anyways. It's a farce, it has to be when
you consider the Earth is only about 10,000 years old.

Noah's Ark has been found. The Turkish government won't allow any more
expeditions on Mount Ararat.

The great flood has been documented in many cultures. Christians are not

I think you made that link up.

There is no way to add a base pair to a DNA strand. You can lose them, yes.
Not add them. That means that you can't have evolution. Only de-evolution.

> Not add them. That means that you can't have evolution. Only

de-evolution.

OK, if that's true, and I'll suppose, for the sake of argument that it is,
then this doesn't address evolution at all. There is no need to add base
pairs to a DNA strand to make it *different* from another DNA strand. There
are 4 basic protiens of which a DNA strand is made. Adenine, Guanine,
Cytosine, and Thiamine (A, G, C, and T). A pairs with T (usually) and G
pairs with C (usually). A long string of these pairs makes up a particular
gene (and a long string of genes makes up your DNA.). When A doesn't pair
with T (and G with C) or when "your" G/C pair is located where "my" A/T
pair is, is where differences in genes lie. It's these mutations (*every*
difference is technically a mutation. Whether it's significant enough to
actually change anything is another story.) that create differences between
you and me, and you and your offspring. When your offspring end up with a
mutation such as blond hair, it is advantageous to them if they live in
Sweden, but not if they live in the jungle. (So they can blend in with the
snow, and not stick out like a sore thumb in the jungle. Obviously there
are millions of better examples.)

So there is no need for added base pairs to address the issue of evolution
(sorry..."biological changes over time"). And, on a semi-related note, not
only can base pairs be added, but entire chromosomes can be added to your
DNA structure. Down's Syndrome is the direct result of having a 3rd copy of
your 21st chromosome, when you should only have 2.

Evolution contends that life evolved from single celled organisms. Surely
you are not suggesting that those "cells" contain the same amount of base
pairs as humans today?

No. Well, kinda. But no. There is no *need* to address quantity of base
pairs when discussing evolution at the level we're discussing it at. When
you dive deeper into the true biological/chemical/whatever aspects of it,
then it does become apparent what is going on...As, Cs, Gs, and Ts get not
only mixed and matched, but re-ordered, added, and subtracted. So when
biologists/genetecists/whomever discuss evolution amongst themselves, then
yeah, you do need to address this fact, and no, an ancient single-celled
creature does not have the same amount of genetic material that a human cell
has.

Have you read Carlin's books? Hilarious. They're filled with one liners
that can be terribly random. "Braindroppings" and "Napalm and Silly Putty".
He writes coherently enough to convey his on-stage persona, so the writing
comes off as angry at some points. Which is the fun of it all, I suppose.

I find it incredibly ironic that as his stand-up humor is more or less adult
in nature, he's one of three narrators for Thomas the Tank Engine and
Friends. He's probably better than the other two narrators, Alec Baldwin
and Ringo Starr, at doing voices for the various characters.
