Hi
I applied dcpromo to a member server so it became a secondary DC (should I say replica?).
The questions are:
- do both servers need to be online all the time? Coz when I disconnect the secondary, the network performance goes down.... I´m talking about an IBM dc and a "no brand" or "multibrand" secondary DC.
- Is it possible to turn off the primary dc without problems?
- What roles is the secondary dc taking?

waiting for your help
thanks
Luis.

Make sure that the second DC is made a Global Catalogue and also runs any
networking services that the first one used to have such as DNS, DHCP etc.
Clients will also need to be configured with both DC's as DNS servers.
If the first DC will be offline for any length of time you should also
transfer the FSMO roles to the 2nd one first.
