| Hello,
Problem: I have a stand alone Win2000 server and cannot get the AD
installed.
Not only stand alone but not connected to anything at all.
At first it was complaining about the DNS not being cnfigured and the DNS
would not let itself
be configured since the link state was null.
I got around that by editing the regedit with

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Curr
entControlSet\Services\Tcpip\P
arameters
Add the following registry value:
Value Name: DisableDHCPMediaSense
Data Type: REG_DWORD -Boolean
Value Data Range: 0, 1 (False, True) Default: 0 (False)

Ok, so now the AD install actually started but halted with-
File Replication Service: The dependency service or group failed to start
(just as I was about to congratulate myself).
No DFS root was configured so I did this but there was no change.
Please HELP! Anybody....
Much Obliged
