Bill Gates Knighthood?? Discuss

| Hi all Microsofters,
The question is does Bill Gates deserve his upcoming knighthood?
Well if its purely on the basis of Business I suppose so, but the fact that
he is responsible for building an Absolute Monopoly that shuts out all
competition in its path can surely not be for the good of the industry but
good for Microsoft's pockets.
Yes he's given some of his wealth to charity but come on, its a drop in the
Ocean to what he's worth and not gonna make much difference. If I was him I
would have organised thousands of Charity workers to go into the hardest hit
African countries and helped them grow crops, get clean water and build
schools amongst other things.
Well what does anyone else think?

It's a rather pointless ceremony don't you think? So does it really matter?

They are not an absolute monopoly. And they have done some good things for
the industry as well as bad.

Cry me a river. "He's rich, he should give more!". You go earn the money
and give it away if your so hot on the idea.

| You have the ability to call PSS and request support, and why do these
newsgroups suck?
All the products have extensive help files and the Microsoft Knowledgebase
is an excellent source for assistance.

Not sure what you are on about, when I've dealt with ms support, they
have been excellent.

As pointless and meaningless as those 'GET YOUR U.N.I.V.E.R.S.I.T.Y
D.E.G.R.E.E' scams - wonder have many people fall for that one?

I have to admit, with all their monopoly, variety and complexity of
products, whenever I've needed support from Microsoft they've been very
helpful. I find these newsgroups are an invaluable resource, and they
certainly do no "Suck". I'm sure many if not most of us rely heavily on the
experience and expertise of our colleagues, through this medium.
As for the knighthood, personally I think Great Britain is a little free
with the honour. He may as well be given the Nobel Peace prize as well.
