OT: If Operating Systems were Airlines
|

| =?iso-8859-1?Q?Frisbee=AE_MCNGP?= 2004-01-22, 2:23 pm |
| (Stolen from Langa List)
If Operating Systems were Airlines
DOS AIR: All the passengers go out onto the runway, grab hold of the plane,
push it until it gets in the air, hop on, and jump off when it hits the
ground again. Then they grab the plane again, push it back into the air, hop
on, etcetera.
WINDOWS AIRLINES: The terminal is very neat and clean, the attendants are
all very attractive and the pilots very capable. The fleet is immense. Your
jet takes off without a hitch, pushing above the clouds, and at 20,000 feet
it explodes without warning.
MAC AIRWAYS: Tickets are expensive. The cashiers, flight attendants, and
pilots all look the same, feel the same and act the same. When asked
questions about the flight they reply that you don't want to know, don't
need to know, and would you please return to your seat and watch the movie.
LINUX EXPRESS: Each passenger brings a piece of the airplane and a box of
tools to the airport. They gather on the tarmac, arguing constantly about
what kind of plane they want to build and how to put it together.
Eventually, they build several different aircraft, but give them all the
same name. Some passengers actually reach their destinations. All passengers
believe they got there.

Fear not, you can be cured. Follow my simple "De-Paisley-fication process",
and you'll be back to your old self in no time!
1) Disconnect your computer from the internet. Immediately.
2) Pour bleach (any household bleach will do. Clorox, for example) in your
eyes to disinfect them from the filth paisley spreads.
3) Pull the trigger.

on this NG there is no reason for you to be acting like a flaming idiot.
No one here has done or said anything about or to you for you to be acting
like you are. Could it be you are intimidated by those who actually earned
their MCSE's and you are feelingthe need to lash out to make yourself feel
justified in how you got yours? Or, perhaps you are thinking that if you act like
the ever so valiant white knight defending a "lady's" honor, you might acutally
get laid for once. Either way, quit acting like a spoiled, whiny child who has had his
lollipop taken away and try to approach things like a reasonable adult.
Additionally go out and get a sense of humor, your is very sadly lacking.

Most people in this newsgroup remember where I got my handle from. In
debates with billyw, he said "debating with you is like debating with
Spock", and in a different thread he told me I should run for office. Hence,
"Politician Spock". My handle reflects the content of my posts. Given the
content of your posts, I am sure we all have some good suggestions for your

billyw never came up with "Politician Spock". I did. But it was his comments

So you are concluding that hostility can be justified. Paisley would
disagree with you (but then be hostile herself)
> it is completely unacceptable for them to have done that.
Some would say it is completely unacceptable for what the paper MCSE's have
done to the market's perception of the cert.
> i'm glad she used her discretion to sensor what they
> posted and banned them.
No argument here. It's her site and her business. She has her business
interests to protect and I am all for allowing her to do that. However, last
I checked I was not banned or sensored.
> i earned my mcse, i went to the 2 week course

So you are a bootcamper? You just opened up the flood gates here.
> you are just angry because i was able to get my mcse after less then a

Yep that's it. You hit the nail on the head. None of us should be angry that
the braindumpers and bootcampers got their certs so fast. We shouldn't
disguse our true motivation with the claim that these braindumpers and
bootcampers have turned the market's perception of the MCSE into an entry
level cert. Our anger is all about the time it takes for them to get the
cert.
> it's funny, when they hired me they told me it was great

No argument here. In fact it's hilarious.
> the person they were gonna hire had years of experience

And the average salary in the market for an MCSE drops even lower. Oh, I
forgot, that's not why we are mad at people like you.
> you see she was right, good things happen to good people.

I agree. You however are not a good person. Even paisley would agree if she
read the flaming posts you have sent this way.

As I was not here at the time I have no opinion about that, but from what I have gleaned from this NG it appears that Paisleyskye published an article that attacked the MCNGP and they responded in kind.
i'm glad she used her discretion to sensor what they posted and banned them.
______________________________
____
Could you possible mean censor? A sensor is a device that monitors a condition and either records the results or activates a set of events based on a recieved reading. Whereas, to censor, is to limit or otherwise stifle a written or spoken statement.
i earned my mcse, i went to the 2 week course like i was advised to do. you are just angry because i was able to get my mcse after less then a months time and get a job soon after.
______________________________
___
I have a surprise for you, I don't have my MCSE so I have nothing to be angry about. I have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (Programming) and an additional 6 months of practical schooling. I have earned my MCSA but do not feel that I have enough
experience with networks to complete the MCSE at this time. I have 14 years of experience with PC's and an additional 20 years experience in electronic comm. systems maintenace, so your paper MCSE does not impress me in the slightest. It just so happen
s that I agree with the MCNGP on the issue of paper MCSE's, knowledge without experience only makes one dangerous to themselves and other people. As to gaining experience, I am in a well-paid position that provides me with the hands-on training to acheiv
e my desired goals and I did this without having to br@indump my way into a paper MCSE. As a matter of fact, I had no certs when I got my position, so why should I be angry at you.
it's funny, <snip>.
______________________________
___
In conclusion;
I have no doubt that you are trying in your own limited way to strike back at those who are not afraid to defend what they see as a cheapening of something they worked hard to obtain. If this means defending themselves from unwarranted attacks or dispara
ging articles then so be it. I would like to suggest that you evaluate the whole problem and try to see things through the eyes of those you attack and attempt to apply what mind power you have to understanding what others are trying to achieve. Instead
of attacking with a flame, which you did, you could have politely asked about what happened and I am sure the reaction would have been completely different and there is a strong possibility that an understanding could be reached.

ok I have an honest question here... you took the job for lower pay so you
could get your foot in the door... great! (seriously)... however, once you
get x number of years experience, how would you feel if someone took the job
you applied for on your way up the chain all because he/she would accept
lower pay? Once you have established yourself in the field, are you always
going to want the lesser pay? I'm serious here... no snide comments... no
hostility... just an honest question about how you will feel when you are in
this other guy's shoes in 10 years time. For now, it has worked for you...
and probably many others... but eventually you will be on the other end of
the scale and it will not be so pleasant, I would think.

| ok look you pathetic child... here are the facts... I have never been to
paisley's site... I have completed my certifications and never even knews
hers existed until just a short time ago when all this stuff started
happening... I actually missed what was going on for a few days because I
was moving and was offline for over a week. I have nothing against paisley
even though she attacked a whole group including those of us who do not
participate in what we were accused of... so I pretty much stayed out of the
conversation as I had nothing to add... while I do not condone her
activities towards that group, I did not feel I had to add comments to it...
I did not feel like getting into an arguement about this crap... so I will
speak up now...
PAISLEY I challenge you to stand up now and do what is right... if this is
one of your followers, perhaps you need to set the record straight... it
does not matter what has come before... the fact remains that this little
boy (because despite his age, his antics are childish) has been doing
EXACTLY what you accused us of doing... if you condone these activities,
then you (and they) are no better than what you accused us of being.
I asked a simple honest and sincere question... even praised you for getting
it "don"... so don't bother coming in here ranting about what I am or not...
I have a job you pathetic moron... as of this morning I was in an interview
and I was hired on the spot at a pretty good local company for pretty decent
pay ($23/hr). All I wanted to know was how you would feel in the other
guy's shoes... so he didnt get the job.. sucks to be him... I was just
curious about your reaction if it happens to you... and I was talking about
if you LEFT your new company for an even better job down the road... never
once did I say you could not hold the job you have or fail to impress your
bosses... my question was simple... but if you want to think in your
paranoid little mind that I was accusing you of something then so be it...

| Congrats on the job Brat, you've worked hard for it and desrve it.
As to the problem child I find it interesting that despite all attempts at being civil and trying
to deal with him in a civilized manner, he feels the need to attack and belittle others.
IMHO he is just trying to bait us into a flame war and maybe the best thing we can do
is ignore him and others of his ilk and thus marginalize them. Granted I fell for his trick
and thus must say "mea culpa" but I honestly feel that is the best way to get rid of him.

I believe your wife is trying to copyright a phrase which already has a
copyright on it. My dad used to spew this phrase at me whenever I pissed my
mom off. Because *he'd* have to pay for it...

Why would brain-dead be on the list?
I hold several industry certifications, make close to 6 figures, own
my own home, keep my wife and 4 kids happy, AND I'm a member of the
MCNGP... Seems I've done pretty well for someone you'd consider
"brain-dead".
A few tips for you:
'I' is capitalized.
Replies go beneath posts.
Line-length should be around 70 characters.

Yes. If you're following the thread. Sometimes, I'm totally uninterested in
the majority of the thread, but would only like to read replies from
certain posters. I'm not a fan of top-posting, but I don't get all bent out
of shape over it.

No.
I have my newsreader set to hide messages marked as read. Why make someone
go back and re-read a previous message when it's quite simple to include the
part you're responding to as a quote? In my case, and anyone else who hides
read messages, you have to temporarily change your view to "show all
messages" to accomplish this.

In my case, I didn't know. I am still trying to get the hang of all the
proper
netiquette with posting to a newsgroup and was following what I thought was
the correct procedure. Any good references to some posting rules could
prove useful.

In a perfect world.. yes. What about someone who finds message later
on google groups.. mailservers lose messages.. what if you miss the
first 2 and only get the 3rd?
Plus, it also confuses newsreaders. I did not trim this message at
all... the newsreader automatically removed everything below the sig
delimiter.

Seems to be the standard "go-to" site for posting netiquette:
http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm
Of course, it all depends on the current protocol for a particular group.
Some groups seem to prefer top posting (although by far, not as many groups
prefer top posting to bottom-posting and quoting), some require OT: or some
other sign that the subject of the thread is off-topic. But that page is a
good start.
