| Passed 217 today. 53 questions and I think about 2 hours. I say "I think"
because this was in the new exam format and the Prometric diaglog box that
loads the exam messed up and hid the first parts from me and the proctor.
After taking 216 and 218 this exam was very easy. No tricky questions, no
wordy scenarios and no over abudance of any one type of question area. It
is clear from having taken 215, 216, 218 and 217 that Microsoft wants you to
know DNS every which way but loose.
The topics I had were straight from the objectives: RIS, DNS, Sites,
replication, backups, backup/restore AD, physically remove objects from AD,
recover deleted objects back into AD, GPOs, Domain Local/Global/Universal
Security/Distribution groups, troubleshooting DNS replication,
troubleshooting site replication traffic, etc etc etc. Take any exam study
guide and you have what was covered on my exam.
I did find out my testing center listens to feedback. I and one other MS
exam taker complained about the new exams on their 14" monitors. They now
have put in 17" monitors in every testing station. They also got rid of the
paper towels after I mentioned that testers could write down questions and
put the paper towels in their pockets.
If you can pass 216 and 218 you can pass this exam.
From easiest to hardest here is how I would rate the exams I have taken so
far:
210, 215, 217, 270, 218, 216
I don't know what I will take next. 6 exams in 8 weeks has me tested out
right now. I start a new job Tuesday and will probably wait a week or two,
no longer, before starting the next exam process. This makes my 15th
certification exam and I have passed every one the 1st time (which means
nothing more than I test well).

In what way did you find 270 to be that much harder than 210? I passed
210 recently and was planning on taking 270 as well since I'll be
supporting both.

| I did not find 270 to be hard at all. There was a bunch of ICS questions but
beyond that 270 is very close to 210

According to cramsession.com, 270 is 110 questions in the same amount of
time as the 60 questions (cramsession says 50 questions) for 210. Is this
correct? If so, it seems like there must be a lot more shorter
non-scenario type questions on 270.

The 270 exam I took was almost all IIS, unattended installs and
RIS/Sysprep/RIPrep. The unattended doc for W2K is about 65 pages. The
unattended doc for XP is 405 pages. And it seemed they wanted to know about
every arcane switch and ini file known.

| I do not recall how many questions it was. I took it in July and I think it
was 140 minutes. It did not seem like 110 questions.
