I -think- Gary was refering the The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company
(A&P) which used to be a rather huge nationwide (US) grocery chain. I
remember my hometown having one as a boy, and it gave me the creeps because
the only person I knew who shopped there was my maternal grandfather, and I
didn't like him very much.
The store was kind of dirty and smelly.

The one I'm thinking of was in the same building as a 'Consolidated'
store... I think that's what it was anyway. It's a K-mart now and A&P
is long gone.... I _DO_ remember it being kinda trashy though..
