Your best bet, especially when you need multiple machines
is to get a reasonably powerful machine (at least
500mhz), plenty of hard disk space and vmware. The reason
I say this is that you can run multiple machines at the
same time. For example, 512megs of ram will allow you to
run two or three servers and perhaps a client machine.
768megs will net you a few more. 1gig of memory will
allow up to about 9 machines. Need a different setup.
shutdown one of the unnecessary machines, and create
another- all from within windows. Although my base
machine is running as part of a workgroup and therefore
not usable in the domain, 9 machines that can be
configured as you wish will make you smile. For me,
creating a new machine to full use is about 30 minutes.
Pause and resume features make use almost instantaneous
after the machines are created and in use. Yes, you can
network two real machines running multiple virtual
machines on each. enough said.
