Use bridged networking, and assign a static IP to the
virtual machine that is on the same subnet as your Domain
Controller.

| my home lab is set up as follows:
vnware installed on windows2000 server (stand alone) with 2 network cards
nic1 is connected to cable modem and nic2 is connected to an 8 port hub.
the hub connects to my domain controller/DHCP server (not a vm ), this
way i can
assign ip addresses to the vmware computers on my windows2000 server.
vmnet0 is bridged to nic2.
it works for me and is a pretty good setup for testing.
