How can AD monitor and manage network devices, such as routers?

| Hi everyone,
I was reading a study material about AD and I was wondering if anyone has done this with AD, "to monitor and mange network devices, such as routers?"
Centralized Management - Combined with Group Policy, Active Directory enables administrators to mange distributed desktops, network services, and applications from a central location while using a consistent management interface. Network administrators also have a consistent way to monitor and mange network devices, such as routers.

| Active Directory (AD) is SNMP aware. As to the specifics of writing appropriate statements or use of 3rd-party products, I make no claim as an expert. I would suggest searching Knowledge board (KB) with "SNMP AD" as a start point.

Microsoft's WBEM implementation. There are providers in WMI for AD,
for SNMP, ODBC, performance monitor, event logs and lots of other
gunk.

more integrating their management utilities with AD. Many already do.
