| I am about to take classes for MCSE Windows 2000. I am
currently upgrading from Windows ME. I would prefer to
upgrade directly to XP...are the two systems similar
enough that I can learn 2000 from using XP? Or is there a
way to get a copy of 2000 from Microsoft once having
purchased XP. Any input? Thanks.

Hello Lyon
WinMe has KERNEL based at Win95, 98 Architecture.
WinXP has KERNEL based at Win NT 4.0-2K Architecture.
WinXP is a improve client version parallel with W2k Professional for
Win2k Srv.
A W2k Network consists of Winnt 2k Server Family and Winnt 2k
professional workstations that are the clients of the above family.
About the second question that you ask you must make e-mail to the
people of Microsoft.
Regards.

| XP is just a client (You can think it is the newer version of Windows 2000
Pro.). You need Windows 2000 "server" to study for MCSE. However, you have
choices to take either exam of W2K Pro (70-210) or XP (70-270) in MCSE 2000
track. So your XP is still useful in studying.
