I was trying to dig fox holes around my house and found my method to be most
inefficient. Maybe it is my shovel? My question to you is, do any of you
ex-marines use a wooden or composite material stick shovels, and if so, what
percentage?

Thanks

Whatever you choose it is I'm sure much more efficient than the e-tools I
had to use while in. Although the e-tool could also be wielded as a weapon
if necessary. Lock it in the "L" position and you can get a real good solid
swing at someone with it. Probably do all kinds of internal damage. The
thing about fighting with weapons like that is you want to try and cause as
much bleeding as possible. I was once told that contrary to popular belief,
a slash is better than a stab. See, whoever passes out first is the one who
is going to lose basically. Although, weird thing is, we were not allowed
to sharpen our bayonets. I'm not sure why but I always found it annoying.
If I'm going to have to lock bayonets and go toe to toe with someone you'd
think they want me to have a good sharp weapon that I could slash with. We
had to polish these things constantly, keep the rust off, keep them clean
but if we tried to put it to a wet stone, the armourers would jump all over
us. Of course these are the same guys who issued my two clips for my 9mm
Beretta that were completely rusted. If I loaded my rounds into this thing,
the spring would compress all the way down and wouldn't come back up. Wtf
good is that?? I had to scrub them son bitches for days to get them
servicable again. And do you know how friggin difficult it is to get rust
off the inside of a friggin magazine that you can't even see into? Pain in
the XXX I tell you. At least I got em clean though. Have you ever seen the
Navy try and get rid of rust? These guys, man they just paint over it. I
got news for you pal, grey paint does not make the rust go away. Friggin
tools. And I had to ride on those rust buckets...

In conclusion... wtf was your question again?

That's former-Marines not ex. I prefer the e-tool. It brings back fond
memories of digging foxhole and then filling them in again for
punishment.....ahhhh.....those were the good old days.
