| Hi everyone, im currently 2 months into my M.C.S.E. I'm=20
concerned that with 2003 server on the scene now im=20
thinking that microsoft will be retiring the w2k exams=20
soon and im going to be left =A33500 out of pocket. Would I=20
be right in thinking that if I pass exam 70-210 and 70-
215 then that counts as 2 elective's towards the 2003=20
server M.C.S.E. path.
Feedback will be greatly appreciated.

| They're not going to discontinue the w2k track for a while. First of all,
most companies will continue to use w2k. Second, they know that too many
people have invested time and money in the w3k - they usually announce their
plans to discontinue a track well ahead of time (6 mos - 1 year).

should have read "people have invested time and money in the w2k - they
usually announce their"
they will keep the w2k cert going for at least 2 yrs or longer.

I'm So Worried
Composer: Terry Jones
Author: Terry Jones
Arranger: John Du Prez
Singer: Terry Jones
From 'Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album'
I'm so worried about what's happening today in the Middle East, you know,
And I'm so worried about the baggage retrieval system they've got at
Heathrow.
I'm so worried about the fashions today. I don't think they're good for your
feet,
And I'm so worried about the shows on TV that sometimes they want to repeat.
I'm so worried about what's happening today, you know,
And I'm worried about the baggage retrieval system they've got at Heathrow.
I'm so worried about my hair falling out and the state of the world today,
And I'm so worried about being so full of doubt about everything, anyway.
I'm so worried about modern technology.
I'm so worried about all the things that they dump in the sea.
I'm so worried about it. Worried about it. Worried. Worried. Worried.
I'm so worried about everything that can go wrong.
I'm so worried about whether people like this song.
I'm so worried about this very next verse. It isn't the best that I've got,
And I'm so worried about whether I should go on, or whether I shouldn't just
stop.
[pause]
I'm worried about whether I ought to have stopped,
And I'm worried because it's the sort of thing I ought to know,
And I'm so worried about the baggage retrieval system they've got at
Heathrow.
[pause]
I'm so worried about whether I should have stopped then.
I'm so worried that I'm driving everyone 'round the bend.
I'm worried about the baggage retrieval system they've got at Heathrow.

Besides, the *NT4* certification is still valid, and that one is
around *seven* years old. Just because exams retire doesn't mean the
certification is gone. This is all well documented on Microsoft's
sites.

This is only half of the truth. Microsoft in the past
*always* revoked the certification status when exams
retired (NT 3.5 exams, etc.). The goal was that an MCSE
would need to re-certify to maintain her/his MCSE status.
When introducing the W2K certifications (in 1999?),
Microsoft made it clear that anyone who would not re-
certify (earn) MCSE status on W2K would loose the MCSE
status on Dec 31st, 2001. The first statements and FAQ's
posted on the MCSE site clearly ruled out the possibility
to use a certification term, such as "MCSE NT4" and the
like.
Now we all know that this is history. And as you rightly
say Microsoft today has a different position on this.
They do in fact now add the version number to the MCSE.
This to say that Microsoft may change at anytime their
position on this again.
To my personal belief, Microsoft should re-introduce the
procedure that one cannot retain the MCSE status when
exams expire. I don't think that the MCSE should be a
certificate which you earn once and for all. There are
just too many bogus (paper?) MCSE from the NT4 times on
the market. And they still advertise themselves as being
MCSE's without having the slightes clues about AD, GPO,
DNS, RRAS, etc.

| Joe, your wrong and I am sure Laura will be around in a few minutes to
point it out error by error. She will give you facts, if you don't
believe them look them up before you get pissed off and try to flame
her.
Don't say I didn't warn you.........
