I need to take the MCSE, still haven't studied the
requirec courses but have proficient knowledge in
MSWIN2000 Pro an Server, and Active Directory, my question
is can I take the MCSA and then upgrade by taking the
remaining exam or they are totally different course wise.

Yes, you can become an MCSA and then upgrade to MCSE later by taking some
more exams. This is a common path to take.

Take 70-216 as your MCSA elective as it is a required test for the MCSE. It
also closely relates to the 70-218, which is required for the MCSA, however
70-218 is a piece of cake compared to the 70-216.

I might be wrong, but im pretty sure there is only one
exam on the MCSA track that doesn't count towards MCSE,
and even then it might be an elective. They started the
MSCA after i had mine, and i was only missing one course
to be considered an MCSA.
