Author 70-210 studying and I broke my machine

I feel so stupid. :#(

I checked out a laptop from work with W2K Pro on it so I could use it to
study for 70-210. As I was poking around in Local Policies I saved what I
had done, then found that I couldn't reverse things. Then I read in the
book where it says that policies are applied to all users, even Admin, so
now there are policies that NOBODY can reverse. Even as local admin, I am
not able to run the Policy snap-in. The machine still runs and all, but I
no longer have complete control of the machine. This is a standalone
laptop that's not on a domain, and I have installed Recovery Console but
can't seem to see what would put it right.

Help!

Thanks for responding, but you couldn't make me feel like more of an XXX
than I already do.

Anyone who's not just a "paper MCSE" got anything helpful to add?

haha....you crack me up. You are going to insult my knowledge when you are
the one that jacked up a work computer? Nice try. And what is your
certification level?

I guess it's typical that a guy who would give you a bad time when you
are already in a jam - the type of jam that all of us have found
ourselves in at least once - that he doesn't have sufficient
knowledge to be able offer any helpful advice at all.

I think you would be better off asking in one of the other groups like
microsoft.public.win2000.security. There are a number of MVP and also
MS people over there that may be able to help - at least they would
probably make an honest effort.

Thanks. Now that it's Monday I can just take the laptop in to work and
format it. No worries, and thanks for at least trying.
