Hi All,

Does any one know when the Windows 2000 Exams to obtain a
MCSE will be discontinued, as I am just about to start
out on the Path to a get a MCSE, but want to do the
Windows 2000 exams.

Is it worth doing the Windows 2000 one's ?

Could I upgrade them to a MCSE (XP) later on with one
exam like the NT -> 2000 exam. ?

If any one can answer my questions I'd appreciate it.

Many Thanks

as far as i know there is only 1 xp exam, so thats all you would need to
take, maybe there would be more, but getting the win2k exams at this stage
is still worth it

The Windows 2000/XP client exams are interchangeable, as will be the
..Net and Windows 2000 server exams. You can mix and match for your
certification and will not be required to "upgrade" it to .Net
server. At least that is the word from Microsoft. :-)

But the question I have, if they are interchangeable, then what happens if I
take half of the XP/.NET exams and half of the W2K exams? Am I a MCSE in
Windows 2000 or .NET?

You'll be an MCSE.

Windows XP Professional and .NET Enterprise Server Exams
The program is integrating Windows XP Professional and .NET
Enterprise Server exams into the MCSE on Microsoft Windows 2000
certification. The Windows XP Professional exam was released October
23, 2001. Windows .NET Server exams will be released in 2002. See the
MCSE on Windows 2000 Certification Requirements page for exam
details.

Windows XP Professional (the desktop product) and .NET Enterprise
Servers (the server products) represent the next step for Windows by
bringing the solid foundation of Windows 2000—reliability, security,
and performance—to home PC users while providing an evolutionary
update to business users. Windows XP Professional and .NET Enterprise
Servers will build on the capabilities of Windows 2000. No major
infrastructure changes for organizations are anticipated before they
deploy Windows XP Professional alongside Windows 2000 Professional or
replace Windows 2000 with Windows XP Professional and .NET Enterprise
Servers.

The MCSE on Microsoft Windows 2000 credential is the premier
certification for professionals who analyze the business requirements
and design and implement the infrastructure for business solutions
based on the latest Windows platform and server software. Individuals
should continue to pursue training and certification in Windows 2000,
as skills acquired for Windows 2000 will be highly relevant to and
provide a solid foundation for Windows XP Professional and .NET
Enterprise Servers.

MCSEs on Windows 2000 will not be required to pass Windows XP
Professional/.NET Enterprise Server exams to retain certification.
The Windows 2000 exams and the Windows XP/.NET Enterprise Server
exams of the MCSE certification are expected to remain available
concurrently. Retirement schedules for all exams are affected by a
number of factors, including the needs of the industry and release of
the next version of the Windows operating system (code-named
"Blackcomb").

MCP candidates can pass a single Windows XP Professional or a .NET
Enterprise Server exam to demonstrate their competence with the
latest product.

Q. I have started working on my MCSE and have passed some Windows
2000 exams. Will I be required to complete my certification with
Windows 2000 exams? Or will I be able to complete my certification
with both Windows 2000 and Windows XP Professional/Windows .NET
Server exams?

A. MCSE on Windows 2000 candidates will have the option to complete
their certifications with either Windows 2000 or Windows XP
Professional/Windows .NET Server exams, or a combination of both.
Details will be announced closer to the release of the product. See
the frequently asked questions about Windows XP Professional and .NET
Enterprise Server Exams for more information.
