Author I need some criticism...
Powerslave

2002-06-22, 6:39 pm

Hey All,

I was wondering if I could get some of you to critique my website for the
training center I am about to open. I have been training for about 3 years
now, and I finally decided to bust out on my own. I had a professional
company design our logo and image (they did stuff for Coca-Cola in Asia),
but I decided for budget reasons to do the website on my own. I have never
done a website before, and I am looking for some constructive criticism. I
don't post much, but I read the posts on these two newsgroups all the time.
I know most of you wont hesitate to give an honest (if not brutal) opinion.

Not all the links on the site are active. The 'about us" and
'certification' links are active. Also the 'hardware' and 'contact us' are
active. Please let me know what you think. It could really help my
business. There are some pics of my place on the 'about us' page. For any
of you who might be familiar with "Radertec", they were in my space before
me and they went under (the partners who owned it got in a spat), but they
were highly profitable. All they left was the sign, but I'm leaving it up
on the wall until I get one for my company.

Let my know any suggestions you may have or changes you might make. Would
you (not literally) like to go to a place like this? Does the site look
professional enough? We hope to be open in less than a month. I've got
some rock star trainers lined up. I'm pretty excited.

Thanks,

That pass your exams guaranteed with Transcender doesn't cut it. No one
should ever promise guaranteed passes on exam's. Says to me that even if
your an idiot and don't know what you're doing we'll still get you your
cert.

Lol,

That is an actual ad from transcender. We are partnered with them and if
someone purchases their product, we get a small commission.

I am afraid I wont be taking that down, but thanks for the input.

You should complain to Transcender about that -- that's their banner and their
wording, not the webmaster's.

I have no speakers at the moment, so I missed the music ;-)

Just took a quick look, and it seems the text on the Product Sales page
moves a bit to the right, placing the nice hardware picture behind the
Products paragraph. Made it hard to see the text.

Sorry, Hardware Sales link with "PC PL@NET" and a nice blue PC in the same
picture. It is the one to the left, right under the top of the page with the
Planet MCSE logo and the "play your game" and "contact us" links.
When I went there, the text shifted to the right, placing it in front of a
picture which looked like it was supposed to be to the right of the text.

Your use of the MCPartner logo is in breach of the t&c - so watch out.

The terms definitely state that you must have as much "white space" around
the logo as the height of the M in Microsoft. and from what I see this is
not the case.

Also, I think there was something in the Logo t&c about background colour(s)
for use with the logo - I'd check it out.

Cheers

Yes, it does do a shift. Not sure why. Your font size must be larger than
medium (set from the view menu of your browser). With text size set at
medium, it looks fine, when I go to larger or higher, it goes over the
picture.

No, text size medium in IE5.5/1024x768, and still shifting.

Ever tried to force

on the whole thing and also force the
text a bit lower? it would solve your problems concerning pretty much every
configuration above 800x600 on any browser.

it simple"
