| Hello,
It is not a good idea to get rid of a wins server=20
until all your pcs are W2k or later. Even then it is=20
tricky depending if you have netbios apps running. It is=20
usually the old apps that will give you problems. What I=20
would do is upgrade all your clients first and then try=20
taking it offline and see if it is missed. Make sure that=20
you leave the server alone so you could just put it back=20
on or active the service.

A wiser way to do this is to run performance monitor and see how many
queries/responses it's getting. That way, you know when you've still
got machines configured to use it.
