Take them both.

The CWNA will force you to know more WLAN concepts and theories where the CWLSS will force you to know more about the Cisco Aironet WLAN implementations...

In other words, they are both useful to have.

By the way, I took the CWLSS/WLFE test early last year, did they update the test to include any of the new Cisco IOS or the AP1200, 802.11A/G, or are they still using Cisco 350 access point and bridging concepts???

Your response will be greatly appreciated...

diamond_dave34,

I am afraid that I don’t know the content of the Cisco version of the Planet 3 CWNA so I can’t be of much help in comparing them.

It costs $175.00 to take the test. If you already know the material from your Cisco studies then you are paying $175.00 for a piece of paper. Is it worth it? It really depends of what your purpose for getting the CWNA is. If you are looking for work and the interviewer is savvy enough to know the difference between wireless certifications then it may well be worth your time and money to take the CWNA test. If you really want a test of your understanding of wireless, the CWNA test would definitely give you that. If your company sends its clients your resume, having a CWNA is a no brainer, do it!

It is early in the wireless game and like every technology there will be a shake out and some will fall by the way side and others will be left standing tall. Personally I am impressed by Planet3 and they already have gained respect in the industry. I certainly wouldn’t be afraid to bet $175.00 that they will be left standing as the premier wireless certification.

Sorry I can’t give you a better answer. For me it was certainly worth the $175.00.

Good luck which ever way you decide to go.
