What about the "Certified Wireless Network Administrator Study Guide" from cramsession?

Is that a book or what?

I want to buy good resources for this test. My job is wanting me to be very knowledgable and pass the test.

What books are good? (cheap if possible)
What study guides are good?

Do I need hands on experience for this cert?

Thanks in advance....

study the official study guide and know it inside out... almost everything u need to pass is in there. Understand it clearly as the test will check you thoroughly to see how you think with the concepts you know.
hands on experience is not mandatory but it gives you an edge if you have seen and worked with what you are talking about.
stuff like 13 characters for a 128 WEP key is somethin u'll not forget after configuring an Access point and RBAC after a EWG respectively...
read periodicals and tutes if you've got the time, it makes it easier.
jusy as importantly answer some mock tests.. it prepares you to face the actual exam and not get thrown.

I bought the Study Guide from CramSession in January, 2004. It's 26 pages and was last updated in Oct/02. For $9.50, I'd say it was worth the price. Use it as an adjunct study aid to the CWNA Guide.

Just one little question, the cramsession study guide has everything you need to pass the test, after reading the 500 page book that is the official study guide??????

luisjo,

I haven't taken the CWNA exam, but I doubt the CramSession test contains "...everything you need to pass the test."

I'm strictly using it as a review guide.

I found that the official CWNA study guide from Planet3 contains everything you need to pass the exam. The catch is ….. you really have to know it cover to cover.

There are always 3 parts to learning “Hear it” “See it” “Do it” we just all use different proportions of each part. If your company is that interested to have you pass ask them to spring for classroom training. That way you get all 3 parts and can close the loop. Hands on is certainly a help especially if your “Do it” proportion is large.

If you can’t get a class, use the Planet3 book, some practice tests and you should be able to pass. Work hard and good luck!

Dont get it?

Is the study guide 26 pages or 500?

exar07,

1) The CramSession CWNA Guide is 26 pages:
http://tinyurl.com/39ln4

2) The CWNA Official Study Guide 2nd ed. from Planet3 Wireless is 557 pages:
http://www.cwne.com/products/cwnasg_look.html

If you are only going to buy one guide, buy the one from Planet3 (i.e., Item #2).

Use Item #1 as a supplemental study aid (i.e., it is no substitute for the information contained in the Planet3 book).

Hope that clarifies the situation.
