I just a call from a headhunter on Friday for a job in Clevland, OH. Base pay was 70K to 74K with a 15% bonus on your base. Last year they paid 24%. They wanted more than just WLAN, but that was the majority of it and the other topics were related.
And I have to say that I got a rather hefty increase for the WLAN job within my company. And I think it will be review again soon and get better for me again!
If you watch sites like Monster and Dice and track the WLAN related jobs, you will see more and more of them coming out each week (you can easily set up agents that will email you the new job postings based on keywords). What you have to ask yourself is how you would stand out in going for one of those positions against all of the other people. Certifications is one way since most folks are not going to have that much pratical experience.
