| I cannot say much as I was sworn to secrecy, but I can tell you that you should see some big news on the WLAN certification front before the end of the year. And I think it will be a real positive. | |

| CWNA 2.0 is now released....finally. Just got word from Prometric. The practice test on our website will change to match shortly...and it will have grown by about 50% also.
CWSP is out and has been for weeks. The first person to take it passed. :-) Any CWNAs on this forum planning on trying any time soon?

| I just finished reading the study guide this afternoon. I must admit to feeling a little overwhelmed. It looks as though the hands-on approach is a necessity. I would love to attend a CWSP class. Does anyone know of a good training location in VA? Thanks for the info.

| Devin:
Any word when additional CWSP material will be out?
I have my book and will probably try the test soon, but would like to get whatever additional test prep material for the CWSP that you guys would be putting out.
Thanks!
ps - This was not what my original message was in regards to...

| We don't have a training location in VA for CWSP at present. Only a few providers have rushed forward with holding these classes, and they are in CO, GA, NY, and FL if memory serves. I'm working on the CWSP Practice test now, but it will likely be at least 45-60 days before it's out. It's LOTS of work because the questions are scenario and graphic based. | |

| I would also like to take the CWSP test this summer, but just browsing the contents of the Study Guide and reading the first several chapters tells me hand-on experience will definately be needed to pass the exam.
I have some plans for a small lab (2003 Server and possibly buying a Cisco AP to practice with the different authentication methods, or just wait for Linksys to release their updated WPA firmware) in the near future. I want to attain MCSA W2K before I upgrade my lab. Hopefully by mid-June.
I would love to take the week-long CWSP course, but the fee is prohibitive to say the least. Unfortunately, my employer is not willing to sponsor this type of training.
I am in the NYC area, so if anyone has any alternative course suggestions, I am all ears.
Any discounted registrations available? Kevin? Devin?

| Planet3 Wireless does not determine the pricing of the courses, rather those prices are set by the individual education centers. I'm sure that most education centers would be open to things like volume discounts, corporate training discounts, etc. | |

| I too plan on taking the CWSP Test this summer. I am just discouraged at how you have the questions designed. If it is anything like the 1st CWNA test (Which I MISSED BY 1 QUESTION) - I would be really surprised that anyone could pass it without attending your classes. | |

| The CWSP exam is nothing like the CWNA exam. The CWNA exam consist, in large part, of memorization of a large amount of material. The CWSP exam presents situational questions, questions regarding graphic presentations, etc and could be considered more 'interactive'. This is done for a reason. At the administrative level, those entering the WLAN field of study have no base of knowledge and therefore must accumulate many 'facts' in their knowledge, but since we have required CWNA as a pre-req to CWSP, we are able to take many pieces of knowledge for granted in the CWSP exam. This allows us to test the examinee's ability to solve situational problems, recognize a problem situation, recommend an appropriate solution to a problem, or to properly document policy and procedures concerning a situation.
The CWSP exam is presented in the same fashion as the new CWNA 2.0 exam where you are told how many items to choose. |
