| Is this what you are looking for?
=======================
Thanks for your question. Self-studying for the CWSP exam is going to be tough. The main reason for this is that many of the questions are based on the lab scenarios found in the class. The test is quite unlike CWNA - where much of the exam is memorization of facts. The CWSP exam presents many situations that might be found in a consulting environment or high-end (enterprise) administrative environment. The first few pages of the new Study Guide make it clear that this book alone is not sufficient to pass the exam. It was not designed to be an all-inclusive book (or it would be 6000 pages long).
Our intention with this exam is that those who can pass it not only can memorize many facts, but can make good judgements based on a variety of facts in a given situation. The test is a little more interactive at some points than CWNA was. My suggestions for you are:
1. Get the Study Guide asap. Though it's not everything you need, you will not likely pass the exam without it.
2. Get some gear for your home lab. I suggest Bluesocket's WG-1000 SOE model, a Cisco AP, Funk Software's SBR 4.0, As many of the hacking software applications found in the Study Guide as possible, and maybe even an AirFortress AF-1100. I would also suggest PSG-1 from YDI.com for jamming and forced roaming purposes and an AP-4131 and LA-4121 from Symbol Technologies. IPSec software like SofeRemoteLT v10 from SafeNet would be a good choice and get demo copies of Odyssey from Funk Software as well.
3. Build a small network at home using Windows 2000 Server and Professional and design and build as many scenarios as you can think of.
4. You're going to need some wireless sniffer software. Airopeek NX 1.2, Sniffer Pro Wireless, Observer Suite v8.0, AirMagnet v2.5, and others will do fine.
There's much to learn - as you'll see when you read the study guide. Good luck guys! | |
