I was just wondering as to the type of equipment that eveyone out there has?

As for myself, I have the following:

* Orinoco AP-200
* Avaya World Card Silver
* iCOM SL-11
* Senao SL-2511CD 200mW card
* Symbol Spectrum24
* Proxim RangeLAN2 7400 (this is a FHSS that comes with a great util for doing spectrum analysis)
* MobileMark Mini-Mag (IMAG5) 5db mag mount antenna and cable (for war driving)

I also have a bid in on eBay for a new Cisco Aironet 350 PC Card with external antenna connectors.

How about everyone else?

This is just a note on the Proxim RangeLAN2 7400 series card that I mentioned having. For anyone doing site surveys or troubleshooting, I really recommend having one of these in your "toolbox".

While it is a FHSS card as opposed to a DSSS card, it does come with a wonderful little utility. This thing willbe ableto show you sources of interference or other such things across the 83.5 MHz of the 2.4 GHz band that you will be using. I have found it to be very, very handy to have.

They can be had off of eBay for a reasonable price (less than $50) and I highly recommend grabbing one.

The only issue that comes into play is that the utility only seems to work with Win2K. Keep that in mind.

Thanks!

My mobile wireless setup is as follows

5 Orinoco AP-1000 dual slot AP's
11 Orinoco gold cards
50 Dell Latitude C600 laptops with built in Orinoco (Dell Truemobile Mini PCI)
Cisco Pix 515 Firewall
iPAQ running ministumbler, utilizing one of the above Orinoco cards

Wired Lan segment consists of Two dell servers running Win2k AD.

The reason for mutilple dual slot AP's is that I provide the technology for Education related conferences at multiple sites on overlapping dates, and need to have the capability of running at least two AP-1000 units per site if needed (HOLY RUN-ON SENTENCE). Last week I hosted a conference with 15 of the laptops, using 2 AP-1000's with 3 cards in them.

At home I have my Linksys Wireless router/gateway, and Linksys Wireless PCI NIC. I also use one of the laptops from work, and the iPAQ.

You had me worried there for a while Phil...I thought the equipment referenced at the beginning of your post was your personal equipment...hell, I was getting ready to see if you wanted to adopt me!

Sounds like a fun job.

Yeah... I'm trying to fry my boys with 802.11b radiation

The cool thing about my job is that there are no standards in place for this network. They bought the equipment last year, gave me a requirement and said have fun... I have an almost unlimited budget (within reason). I don't have to manage this network everyday, so I get to blow it away when it's not in production.

Very sweet Phil...what are of business is your company in? You mentioned education. Is this an educational institution? I guess what I am asking is what the company does without you having to necessarily name it.

Thanks!

It's for a Department of Defense contract. One of the divisions is responsible for reviewing material for all of the DoD schools, and hold numerous meetings and conferences all over the east coast. A typical conference lasts 1 week. Each conference has different requirements, so I get to do small site surveys before the technology is deployed. Nothing in depth considering it is temporary, but everything applying to a full site survey is beneficial, just not enough time to do it.

AHHHHH! Since it is tax dollars and I pay taxes, just send me some of the equipment and we'll call it even!
