Failed CWSP with a 65%.... OUCH!!

| I took the CWSP exam today and earned a 65%. It was a fair, but very difficult exam. I'm not sure what I could have done to better prepare for the test. I think having access to some more advanced lab equipment would have been helpful. I hope you guys have a more successful experience. Due to financial limitations, I will not be able to attempt the exam for a while. Even with this failure, I feel I have learned some valuable information. Good luck to all.

| Ouch. What did you use to study with? | |

| I read the study guide 3 times. I read several other wireless security books. I attended the CWSP class in ATL, (well half of the class due to hurricane Isabel). Other than getting more hands-on experience with higher level security protocols, I don't know what to do differently. I did not feel nearly as comfortable going into this test as with the CWNA. I did learn some good stuff, and am much better prepared to implement wireless security solutions. | |

| Hi People,
I would like to know how I can obtain the CWSP exam requirements such as expected coverage for the exam, who is the exam Board, and schedules, as well as location.
In your view, please let me know if the following certificates that I alread attained would qualify me for the exam.
Thanks to everyone,

| The only exam requirement is to earn CWNA first.
Exam board? Please explain what you mean by this.
Location and schedules: Available at all Prometric testing centers, just like any Microsoft or Cisco exam.
Find out more:
http://www.cwne.com/cwsp/index.html
CWSP Exam Registration:
http://www.cwne.com/products/check_cwnpid.php
So, since you didn't list CWNA among your credentials, that's where you need to start.
Good luck!
Kevin

| Kevin:
Any pass/fail stats for the CWSP yet? Is the total number currently certified on CWNA and CWSP public information? If not, do you foresee it being public in the future?
Also, do you have any knowledge of how many people are attempting, either successfully or unsuccessfully, the CWSP exam without attending an Official Training Class?
Thanks. | |

| OK, pass/fail for CWSP is less than 70%. That means less than 70% of the people taking the exam are passing it. No public info yet, though at some point in the future we will release that data. That point is completely unknown even to us.
Don't know the ratio of people taking CWSP after class vs. self-study, but my educated guess would be about 80/20, meaning 80% of those taking the exam are also taking the class. That would support the above pass rate. Self study CWSP candidates are not passing at that rate, though many folks with significant experience in security, wireless, and networking are passing with self-study.
Hope this helps.
