Can someone explain this to me?

The question is basically saying there the company has expanded to 3150 facilities and needs a new subnet mask and the routers dont support variable subnet masking.

a. 255.255.224.0
b. 255.255.240.0
c. 255.255.248.0
d. 255.255.252.0
c. 255.255.254.0

b, c, & d are correct. Can anyone explain why these are correct and the equations they used to get the numbers? Thanks.
