| i think that all answers are wrong, what do you think? they say that A) is the right one.
(the others answers says 'only', and the answer is network + host, not only host)
What function does a subnet mask perform?
A) It identifies which portion of a given IP address belongs to the client and which part belongs to the host.
B) It identifies which class a given IP address belongs to.
C) It identifies only which portion of a given IP address belongs to the client computer.
D) It identifies only which portion of a given IP address belongs to the host computer.
E) It determines the routing boundaries between domains with different TLDs.

| a subnet mast identifies which part of an IP address is the network and which is the host.
so if you have an ip address 23.2.3.4 with a subnet of 255.0.0.0
then the network address is 23 and the host (client) address is 2.3.4

| I agree that the answer to the question is incorrect. I remember this one and I was not satisfied with the answer given. Lately there have been a lot of incorrect QODs. |
