There is one sentence from Study Guide regarding Terminal Service:

Only text and graphics within an application running in a Terminal Services session can be copied to an application running on the Terminal Services client. Files and folders cannot be copied by default between the Terminal Services session and the Terminal Services client. Mapped drives, however, can be used to accomplish this.

Now, how can I 'Mapped drives' to copy the file???

Thanks for advice.

That whole paragrah is a little misleading. Maybe because it was taken out of context.

What I think they're trying to get at is that when you have a terminal services session running on your computer, if client drive mapping is not enabled on the terminal server, then from within that terminal services session you will not be able to access files stored on your computer.

Because the terminal services session is running locally on the terminal server then C drive will be the C drive on the terminal server rather than your computer. If client drive mapping is enabled then this will map any drives on your computer to alternative letters in the terminal services session. So now the C drive on your computer is mapped to V drive in the terminal services session. This will enable you to access files on your computer from within the terminal services session.

Excuse me if this is a little unclear my brain is not working that great this morning.

To answer your question fully I should add that you need to enable client drive mapping on the terminal server you are connecting to. Then from within your terminal services session you will have access to your local computer drives but mapped to different letters.

Enabling client drive mappings is not an option in windows 2000 terminal services. On citrix yes...however, you can connect/map drives through the TS profile. What the statement is refering to is that you cannot say copy a folder from your local desktop and paste it into a terminal services session (by default) there are utilitys available for thisRdpclip

One can map drives by clicking 'Tools' on the menu bar of a Windows Explorer window or a My Computer window. There are options to map and disconnect drives.

Hope this helps.
