Oh wise and mighty gurus, I have a question regarding account policies applied at the root domain level, with multiple subdomains involved. If you apply an account policy with stringent password and security settings at the root domain will it propagate to the other child domains or will you have to link the same policy to the all of the child domains for the policy to take affect in all of the domains? I thought that a domain policy would have to be applied or linked to the child domains for the policy to be consistent throughout the Enterprise. Is this true? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to link it to the sub domains.

Thank you for your reply, I thought so too.
I took a practice test and the scenario said that no override for a Enterprise GPO would work. Sounds pretty fishy to me. Microsoft says the same thing.

GPOs are not inherited from domains by subdomains. This is one of my 2 pet peeves. I have seen literature which talks about inheritance by subdomains from domains. The other pet peeve is literature that talks about multiple site links between 2 sites with differing costs based on differing physical connections (varying bandwidths). I have yet to find a way to do this. I think that it is BS.

you can apply a GPO to a site, and all domains inside the site receive this GPO... and all OUs inside the domains receive a GPO...

GPOs regarding password policy only can be applied at domain level.
