Yesterday night i read 20 pages, usually i do more, but, after reading the i-net+ book in 6 nights, believe me i was kind of tire of reading.

Wait for more news.

Happy reading - this is the MS Press training kit that you're reading for the 218 test? If so, have you been here to check for errors in print? All books have them, so be sure you're reading accurate material.

I'll be looking to see how long it takes you to finish through Chapt. 5. I found the book to be very helpful in following the course objectives and good luck to you and your eyesight

Yeah Luisjo...what book are u reading?...

LOL!
For some reason after reading luisjo's original post, I keep thinking that some Hollywood director will see the thread and want to make it into some real-world movie or a some national tv show like Survivor or The Great Race. Maybe call it something like Real Chronicles from the 218 starring luisjo. j/k

No offense intended. In America, there are several television shows that are based on so called "reality". These types of show have gained popularity with viewing audiences, which makes me in the minority.
In anycase, this thread should prove interesting. Good luck.

Thank you for taking your time in reading these post, maybe i could do what Namrak says start a picture or a reality show about my 70-218 story, who knows. By the way, i used to be a tv fan, specialy friends or mad about you, even the nany but now i was thinking, the less tv i watch, the more time i have to read.

Jocampo, the book im reading is:

Managing windows 2000 Network Enviroment publish by Microsoft Press. Second Edition.

I hope that these one, can help me out to pass the 70-218 exam, and give me the guts to pass the 70-216 and get my MCSA

Luisjo:

If you're planning to earn your MCSA, you can pass 218 and take A+. Because you already have the Net+ cert, you can skip 216 and earn MCSA too. Some people take this way and then achieve an A+/Net+ certs...that well worth too.
Pavlov

2002-11-25, 9:32 am

However, if you plan to continue on the MCSE then you'll still need 216 - plus A+ will cost more because it's two tests and CompTIA charges more per test. A+ is nice to have as many shops now require their helpdesk staff to all be A+ certified, but it's a personal choice to get it after you've come this far

Mmmm...you're right too...finally, is a personally decision! Here at PR, is better have A+; its more popular than "MCP" certs. Unbelievable, isnt?

Hey Pavlov...did u see my other post? I have a doubt about Multiple Scopes!!

After taking 216, I'm pretty much prepared and ready for anything they wanna throw at me. Everyone keeps talkin' about 218, but my knowledge of 216 has got me geared up for 218. I just need to do is find time to get it outta the way. Good luck to y'all and Godspeed!
luisjo

2003-01-30, 7:06 pm

I encorage you to pass the 218, but please read something about 217, remember that 218 is like a combination of 210,215,216,217, so you will be ready to kick a s s .

Good luck, what book did you use for 216?

2003-02-04, 10:04 am

First of all, I read MCSE press book provided by Microsoft from front to back. Then I tried my hands on the trancenders. Remember, you have to know your stuff in the world too. It does help if you get your hands on a network of 2 workstations and 1 domain controller. If you can do all that, 'the beast' would then become 'the puppy' to you because you've subserved your knowledge.

Godluck and godspeed!

I took 218 on Wednesday Feb 26, but I flunked and I still don't know the reason why. I was so confident I even questioned the integrity of the exam itself. Now i'm all pissed and I'm going totally nut. I don't even know where to start. I swear to God I knew my snuff in and out, and I didn't even flinch during the exam. The bottom line is, that stuff was easy and I still said it after failing it. So where did i go wrong... I need to get certified before March 10th. Someone please help a brother!

Hi, you might want to check out where your weak areas are on an exam simulator like transender. I used one that came with the 2nd ed MSPress kit for 218. Found where my weak spots were, reviewed the materials again before writing exam. This should save you some time.

Cheer up, you'll make it on the next attempt.

I think giving myself deadlines keeps me focused...

Thanx for your words of wisdom, kuek! I'll do exactly just that.
kuek

2003-03-01, 8:18 pm

Yep Cyrus_kid,

You'll make it on the next one. Setting the all important deadline is a must. Better still announcing it here on the forum gives it that extra 'edge'. I would ranked the following for motivational importance (a bit OTT):

1. Setting and booking the exam day (&/or announcing it on a forum). Loss of face &/or Fear of failure works for me.
2. Hitting 12 hour sessions on simulators for at least 2 days (not forgetting to read & understand explanations and being able to apply concepts consistently).
3. Making a set of highly summarised notes that only you can understand and 'regurgitate' again as if you're an MCT.

All the above pretty hard to do when you're working.

luisjo, how's it coming along?

I'm sizing up 216 right now - studying my 'opponent'. Have fun guys

2003-03-01, 11:06 pm

Im reading the mspress book, its going like an alfa Romeo on the road, fast as the wind, cause i already read the 210,215,216,217 its like a review, some stuff that i know like the back of my hand, so im trying to finish these book by midweek of next week and start the osborne book to finish it in 5 or 6 days then do some boson test and book my exam, lets say from 12 to 14 or march, whos with me?????

im leaning more towards the end of march beginning of april.

i don't like to set a date until i've read at least one book and taken a practice exam. I then concentrate on my weak areas with futhur study for about a month or so. if im not where i think i should be i delay the exam a month or so as a penalty to me for not studying hard enough and i buy other exam prep software to have fresh exam-like questions.
Cyrus_kid

2003-03-03, 8:06 am

I heard y'all talkin' bout buying software and stuff, but all I want now is a freaking job to pay for my exams. I wanna go back home (Ontario), I hate living in the UK. What I'm saying is... it's like a freakin' war out here. I need the challenge that comes with a top job cuz I swear to God, I know what I'm capable of... Anyway, screw all that! The fact that the matter is, I need to stay focused and that won't come by crying me a river but fighting on like a SOLDIER!
luisjo

2003-03-03, 7:15 pm

if i might say so, you should have a little more experience in the ms exams before you take the 218, im prepare to take the beast, but because im been prudent, im taking these first but to tell you the truth i know my weak areas are on the 217 exam, i mean Active directory, and at least a 30% of questions are related to A.D. so i took the desition to study the 217, after i finish my second book on the 218, then ill take the 218. Why dont you finish reading your 218 book and then read a 216 book and then take the 218, i know is a long way but its a safe way.
