Has anyone failed this exam?

| If so, where did you go wrong?
If you did pass, then what was the best test engine you used?

| I passed it on my first attempt. I used EasyCert and I recommend it for this exam. | |

| I passed the first time - used Transcender but didn't do more than one test from them. Relied heavily on class notes and the MS Press training kit and Readiness Review books. | |

| Ruscorp, what was your study strategy? Were you weak in all areas or just some? You must know what sort of areas you were finding hard on the exam. Good luck to you on your next try. I need to take this within the next two weeks. | |

| My weaknesses are GPO's and Terminal Services which the whole entire test is like based on. | |

| What sort of TS Q's did you have? | |
| ruscorp 2002-09-20, 12:46 pm |
| ...and DNS too. I don't really recall. I failed back in July. | |

| CyberDude
i would complete the windows 2000 core; once you pass them you'll be able to pass 218 with review work
i found 218 to be a little of 210, 215, 216, and 217. 217 & 218 were review exam not study & review.
good luck | |

| I too passed on my first attempt. I didn't use any test engines, as a matter of fact I didn't use a single study material. But somehow I still managed to pass. Walked in with what knowledge I had learned from 70-210, 70-215, and 70-217 and gave it my best shot. I guess I consider myself lucky. I definately don't recommend studying like that or I should say lack there of. Even though the test is "easier" compared to the rest, you still shouldn't under estimate it. All the Terminal Service questions that I got almost did me in. | |

| I passed this one on the first attempt too. I took it shortly after I had taken the 216.
To prepare for the Group Policy part, I watched and studied my 217 LearnKey material the week after I passed the 216, and then I had fun playing with Group Policies, mainly screwing with my kids and royally pissing them off as much as I could. (I still do that on occasion. One has to stay sharp!) I also practiced assigning and publishing apps onto their computers.
Also for preparation, I had purchased the MS Press book for the 218, but ended up just skimming through it when I realized that I already knew the material pretty well. So I ended up just using the book mainly to concentrate on Terminal Services and IIS. (I'll get around to reading it one day for review.) By the way, both of those objectives, Terminal services and IIS, were scantilly covered on my exam.
The test engine I used was the practice questions that I either downloaded off the net or had received via e-mail.
My opinion of the 218 is that it was the easiest exam of them all, at least it seemed that way to me at the time. Let me qualify and say that after coming off the 216, it probably seemed easier than it really was. While the 218 covers the widest array of objectives and basically rehashes the four core exams with an emphasis on troubleshooting, it didn't really delve too deeply into any one particular objective and was, indeed, a very straight forward exam. Overall, it was a nice break in intensity between the 216 and the 217, which I took next.
CyberDude, as long as you have been prepping for this one, I'm confident you could pass it in your sleep if you wanted!

| Cyberdude, you can kill this thing...
I am not as smart as Slinky, who just walked in and took it, i actually had to study.
6 weeks, as a matter of fact, having just 210 and 215 in my pocket.(overstudied)
But all the labs and the MS Pressbook helped a lot,(i love to troubleshoot), then i used Examsimulators as my Test engine.
Killed this one in just over an hour.
Is anyone still using Transcenders?---hello?--- not me.
Good Luck on it, Cyber
(not like you need it... )

| Passed on first attempt. Used EasyCert, Transcenders, CramSession, many MS Press books (70-215, 70-216 and 70-217).
The exam is not easy - many DNS, Group Policy, IIS, performance and routing questions.
For this exam EasyCert is far better than Transcenders. EasyCert is commercial but is right on the money.

| I passed this one on Friday. Lots of DNS and GPO but no Terminal Services (which annoyed me as I admininister 12 Terminal Servers and know it pretty well).
I used the MS Press book 2nd edition with the readiness review. I passed 210 & 215 12 months ago and 216 last month. I spent a bit of time reviewing my notes for those 3.
I have the transenders for the core but have never really used them, I have trouble sitting still for 2 hours and can only just manage this for the real thing. 216 took me the longest at 90 min and 218 took 65. I never review, I used to at school, but found that I started to doubt my answers, so I dont bother any more.

I didn't read a single book on it either, nor use any test engines. I was alright on the TS part though because my college class had just gone over it like 3 days before I wrote the exam. I had only written 244 (Maintaining NT), 210 and 215 when I walked in though. I was more then half way though my study of AD at the time so I actually found this to be the easiest of all the microsoft tests I had written. I just showed up and wrote the exam and was confident throughout the whole thing that I was going to pass. |
