| Q.) You are a desktop administrator for your company. All client computers run Windows 2000 Professional with the default installation settings. Users in the sales department use portable computers. The users require dial-up access to the company network when they are out of the office. You are asked to configure network dial-up access for a new sales employee named Peter. You insert a PC Card modem into Peter's computer. You then restart the computer and log on as a local administrator. You start the Network Connection wizard, but the modem does not appear in the list of devices that you can select for marketing the dial-up connection. You need to be able to install the modem in Peter's computer. What should you do?
A. In the system BIOS, reserve an IRQ for the COM port that is used by the modem.
B. In the Driver Signing Options dialog box, set File Signature Verification to Ignore.
C. Use Device Manager to disable the computer's built-in serial ports.
D. Manually install the modem device driver provided by the manufacturer. | |
