When you create a default web page with IIS you can access this page by going to IE and typing in the server name where do you create a friendly name for the page do you create a virtual folder or do we need an extra entry in DNS I can't remember it was a long 3 day weekend thanks for the help

You'll have to make a CNAME record in your DNS console. The record will be called "www" for example and will point to the A record for the server. Make sense?

So you should have records resembling the following.

server1 IN A 10.0.0.20
www IN CNAME server1

You will then be able to access the server by typing in www.host.com.

HTH!
