Author Folder redirection. Synchronized?

When folders are redirected with Group Policy, are these folders synchronized at logon and log off?

I cannot seem to find anything thats states whether it is or it is not synchronized.

I would like to know this because I have a laptop (not with me at the moment, or else I would try it) that obviously will not always be connected to the network.

Folder redirection is supposed to consume less network bandwidth than roaming profiles, so I am assuming this means there is no sync.

Any idea? Thanks!

In my experience it depends on which client OS you are using. I have found that some reason whenever you enable folder redirection, XP Pro machines immediately decide to cache all the files locally and then synchronise at logoff - why I have no idea. In fact its a pain in the backside.

With Win2K Pro no synchronisation occurs by default unless you enable the folder you are redirecting to to be able to be synchronised
