| Question ID:70-218qod44
Andrea is a member of both the Design group and the Management group. The Design group has Read and Write permissions allowed for the Design Docs folder. The Management group has Read permissions allowed and Write permissions denied for the Design Docs folder. Andrea herself has Read and Write permissions allowed on the Design Docs folder. What will Andrea's cumulative NTFS permissions on the Proposal_New.doc file, which is located in the Design Docs folder?
A) She will have Full Control access on the file.
B) She will have no access at all to the file.
C) She will have Write access only to the file.
D) She will have Read access only to the file.
E) She will have Read and Write access only to the file.
Correct answer: C
Explanation:
From the Managing a Windows 2000 Network Environment Training Kit (page 102), Andrea will have a cumulative access of Read and Read & Execute. The Write permission is explicitly denied by virtue of membership in the Management group.
Errrrr.... shouldn't the correct answer be D or am I reading it wrong ?

| Yes, D.
Explanation is OK. | |

| I think right answer is "D"...
Locally, the least restrictive permission "wins" over any others, except when there is a "deny"; deny overrides any others. So, in this case the final permission will be read.

| The answer is unquestionably "D". I recently read an article that was written as the result of a 5 year study. According to the study, which was subjected to extensive peer review, authors of practice test questions are not perfect. | |
