Well it looks like Friday (today) was a good day to take this exam (from looking at the other posts). I've also passed today! Had 50 questions and 2.5 hours to complete it in. It took me less than 2 hours. I'd rate the exam at no more than 2 out of 5 for hardness. Congrats to all others who passed today. Well it's off to 70-222 NT4 Migration for a week, then the exam.

When I heard about the new MCSA certification, I was so glad because I had passed 210 and 215. I also had earned 4 COMPTIA certs. Now I had something to look forward to a lot sooner than the lofty MCSE designation, which was 5 tests away. It is a great idea to have something to work toward between MCP and MCSE.
However, the concensus seems to be that 218 is a combination of concepts associated with the core 4, with the emphasis on troubleshooting. If there were no MCSA or 218, I would now be studying either AD or TCP/IP. These are intense subjects, but you could focus on one at a time. Because I chose to do the MCSA track, now I am studying all the core 4 subjects. This will certainly help me in the long run, and will possibly make 216 and 217 a little easier to pass. But right now it's pretty intense. I am using materials dedicated to 218 prep. These books don't go into as much detail as 216 and 217 study materials, but if you have a fair amount of curiousity, you can't accept a partial understanding of things. This forces me to do further research. The bootom line is that it's not easy studying the cream of the core 4. There are those who already passed the core 4, and then approach 218. For them it's probably a lot easier.

I too am studying for this one in the same way as you Ranger, which is why I have not attained another exam since February.
