| Hey guys,
How much subnetting knowledge is required for the 218? I have studied for many hours on IP classes and subnetting, yet I just cant get it all th sink in!!

| Move on to another subject - subnetting is not that big a deal in the 218 world. You just need to be able to recognize when a PC's settings might have a wrong subnet mask. Spend a little time on IIS and DNS and DHCP. Those seemed to be the areas on this test and others from MS.
When you get to 216 spend some time at www.learntosubnet.com

| I don't believe there is any subnetting on 218. I realize the Transcender says otherwise, but it has been my experience and that of others that there are no subnetting questions on this exam. However do know your IP classes and default subnet masks. | |

| As Pavlov pointed out you will need to know IP address ranges and standard subnets for networking questions but it can't hurt to learn how to work out sub-netting without using a subnet calculator as you never know when you'll need it.
The focus of the exam is troubleshooting not design and configuration.
